Collin County voters turned down most of the tax and bond measures on the November 3, 2026 ballot. Here is what was on the ballot, how it turned out, and what it changes for homeowners and buyers in McKinney and nearby cities. All results are unofficial until each entity canvasses its election.

McKinney ISD Prop A failed

Voters rejected Prop A, 59.71% to 40.29%. Prop A asked voters to ratify McKinney ISD's adopted 2026 rate of $1.0664 per $100 of taxable value. That rate included 3.17 cents of maintenance and operations tax above what the district can set without an election. Without voter approval, the district's 2026 rate works out to about $1.0347 per $100.

For a home inside the City of McKinney and McKinney ISD, the combined 2026 example rate (city, school district, Collin County and Collin College) drops from about 1.71% to about 1.68%. On a $600,000 home, that is roughly $10,080 a year before exemptions, about $190 less than before the vote.

McKinney example combined property tax rate now about 1.68%, about $10,080 a year on a $600,000 home before exemptions, down from 1.71% and $10,270

McKinney ISD's four bond propositions (B through E, about $500 million in total) also failed. Bonds do not change the 2026 rate either way.

Collin County and Collin College bonds failed

  • Collin County Prop A, courts and detention ($296.5 million): 37.41% for, 62.59% against

  • Collin County Prop B, roads and bridges ($475 million): 48.33% for, 51.67% against

  • Collin County Prop C, parks and open space ($6 million): 46.68% for, 53.32% against

  • Collin County Prop D, elections and records facility ($40 million): 30.03% for, 69.97% against

  • Collin College Prop A ($600 million): 47.52% for, 52.48% against

Before the election, Collin College said it did not expect a tax rate increase from its bond. The county and college rates in our guides stay the same.

Plano and Anna

  • Plano Prop A failed, 54.78% to 45.22%. It would have allowed venue taxes on car rentals, hotel stays, event parking and tickets for a proposed Dallas Stars arena. It was not a property tax.

  • Anna Prop A, a $60 million street bond, passed with 50.98% of the vote, a margin of 185 votes. The city estimated the bonds could add up to $89.10 a year per $100,000 of homestead value as they are issued over about five years. It does not change Anna's 2026 rate.

Frisco, Plano, Allen, Prosper, Celina, Melissa, Princeton and Anna ISDs had no tax rate or bond measures on this ballot. Combined rates for those cities in our relocation guide are unchanged.

What this means if you are buying or selling

  • Buying: use the updated example rates for planning, then check the estimate for the exact address with the Collin County Tax Estimator. A different street can mean a different school district or a MUD or PID.

  • Selling: if you close before 2026 bills are final, ask your title company which rate it used to prorate taxes.

  • Either way: election results do not change appraised values. Your homestead exemption and a spring protest still matter most.

See our updated cost to own a home in McKinney post for monthly payment examples at the new rate, or contact us with questions about a specific address.

Avelo Airlines is scheduled to start commercial service at McKinney National Airport on November 11, 2026, beginning with a flight to Fort Myers. Las Vegas, Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale follow in November. The airport uses DTX for airline bookings and keeps TKI as its FAA code.

These figures are estimates for planning, not a tax quote. Rates vary by address and can change.
